A life-enriching school
*Our very first “maternelle” class for children from 3-6 years old opened its doors in September 2007, followed by our first primary school class (combination of Kindergarten/1st grade) in September 2009. In September 2012, we are expanding with the addition of a 4th grade class.
Our mission
The creation of Living School is based on two assessments:
- First Assessment: Today many schools fall short of equipping children with essential life skills. Self-confidence, assertiveness and the ability to have harmonious relationships with others are qualities that are necessary for a successful life. Yet education still stresses knowledge and know-how, neglecting important life skills, or “knowing how to be.” Life skills are the foundation of Living School’s teaching method. Passionate teachers receive special training to give each child everything and every opportunity he/she needs to develop his or her talents and potential.
- Second Assessment: New global issues/challenges (ecological disasters, sustainable development, North-South inequalities, and spreading pandemics) urgently require new curricula and, above all, a new, more responsible attitude. The Living School curriculum includes education in environmental matters, sustainable development, health and other issues. The teaching method is designed to make children actors in society rather than undergoing its effects. Living School has passionately incorporated an education that is proactively focused on teaching the children about the environment and sustainable development for the sake of saving our planet and our health. This pedagogy has been conceived so that children can live as key contributing actors in society.
Living School is a life-enriching school, whose mission is to:
- Help children learn in a positive and stimulation climate that is in accordance with the national educational program, as well as,
- Experience the benefits of developing their self-confidence, their autonomy/self-sufficiency, their sense of responsibility and their desire to make a contribution to our world.
